TARDIS 3D Illustration
Wanting to test the limits and capabilities of Photoshop CS6’s 3D features, I created this illustration of Dr. Who’s TARDIS from the ground up. Finding the software’s strengths a little wanting — especially once you have reached a certain number of elements used in the model, and this image had dozens — I realized the best workflow is to generate the basics using 3D, then finish the piece by adding lighting and other details traditionally. In the final image, each TARDIS shown is a different rotation of my model, while NASA provided the nebulous background.
The nice thing about working in 3D: the seemingly infinite variations of viewpoint.
